Online Video Contest Pulls Child Racist YouTube Video
Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWeb) March 12, 2007 -- BrioBox Media appalled at content submitted to their website. In the past week, it has been brought to BrioBox's attention that a video submitted to their online contest contained a parent using their child to say racial slurs in the hopes of winning $50,000. BrioBox.com will not tolerate this kind of abuse in any way, shape or form.
The company officially launched the contest on March 1, 2007. Anyone may submit their original YouTube video to BrioBox.com for free and have a chance to win $50,000. Registered members of BrioBox may vote on videos by becoming a fan. The contest runs through the end of the year. The video with the most fans wins and will be featured in a national TV ad. Company founder, John Marino states that "while watching Fox news one evening, I saw a report on Minnesota YouTubers submitting videos and not earning anything. I realized that we could offer a format in which users showcase their originality and have a chance for not only fame, but money."
The rules of the contest clearly state that BrioBox will not accept any videos that contain profanity, nudity, violence, or otherwise be inappropriate or offensive. The Minnesota Company wants more to be done to prevent videos like this to ever reach the internet. BrioBox co- founder Sara Borchers says "it was brought to our attention that a submitted video featured a child while saying the words 'sparkling wiggles', sounded like racial slurs. We will not tolerate this content and were outraged that a parent would use an innocent child in this manner. The video was immediately removed. We apologize to anyone who may have viewed the content as it is not a representation of our company."
BrioBox is a family friendly entertainment video contest. The company will continue to make additional efforts to screen submitted videos and offer a safe fun environment. BrioBox.com wants to see the best that America has to offer. What would you do for $50,000?
