Urban Zebra Productions Makes Waves at Cannes
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) June 17, 2008 -- With an acting background and training in New York as well as South Georgia, Justin Price has brought a unique perspective to the independent film movement. Pairing his futuristic style, which some have compared to the late Orson in terms of creativity, with the rare traditional style of Caroline Guidi, this dynamic duo is on course to change the way films are made. Justin is set to start his first feature with Urban Zebra Productions later this year, and Caroline Guidi is set to follow with her own feature "The Tagger". The entertainment world is buzzing at the opportunity of welcoming these two special talents.
Urban Zebra Productions entered pre-production for its first of three films to be released this year, "H.U.M.P.- The People's Agency"- a comedy written and directed by Justin Price. "H.U.M.P." is about four former CIA operatives who use their skills in counter-espionage as romantic matchmakers. Cast includes: Bret Novek, Peter Quinn, Kyler Willett, Jenni George, Bertrand Roberson Jr., and Sandra Lindo. Filming is scheduled to begin June 22, 2008. More information is available at www.myspace.com/urbanzebraproductions.
"The Tagger", written by Caroline Guidi, is film about a high school student named Marcus who is in a graffiti tagging crew. When his behavior leads him to possible expulsion, an art teacher who has seen some of his sketches puts her career on the line to keep him in school. In turn he must enroll in her intensive art program. This film had Cannes investors interested, with a $1.5 to $3 million budget in negotiations.
"R.E.M.- The Dream Journal" is a psychological thriller that explores the dynamic of a mental patient, Sam, and his psychic predictions that are channeled through his doctor Donna, played by Deanna Congo. Also starring Chris Beranger, Damon Dayoub, Bolude Fakuade, and Anna Paula Lopes. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, and this film promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.
"We are so fortunate as a company to be blessed with actors and producers who are interested in bringing more mystery and excitement back to the film industry," said Caroline Guidi. "We feel like we have an opportunity to restore some magic and heart back into the movie experience. I miss being shocked by the images on the screen and I think filmmakers have lost touch with this and are taking the opportunity of being able to make Indies for granted," Justin said.
Urban Zebra Productions comes back from Cannes, France at a time of economic difficulty with a successful trip and offers on the table. More importantly they come back from Cannes with new relationships with fellow filmmakers and distributors who are just as passionate about welcoming fresh talent to the industry. Northampton, MA, Citizens Campaign to Protect Their Urban Wetlands, Prevent Flooding
Citizens of Northampton, MA, are campaigning to preserve the buffer zones around the city's urban wetlands from development. Northampton has a proud tradition of environmental stewardship and sustainable growth, but on October 4, Northampton's City Council plans to vote on an ordinance that would slash the no-build zone around wetlands to as little as 10 feet in many districts. The North Street Neighborhood Association this week is mailing 16,978 postcards to virtually all the registered voters of Northampton. The postcards call for maintaining 50-foot no-build buffers, the general standard to this point, to mitigate flooding, prevent water pollution, and keep neighborhoods green and cool.
